The other week, we went on a couple of brownie-delivering sprees, surprising school staff who were already in during the summer holidays, busy preparing and setting up their classrooms ready for the new school year.
About our Collaborator, The Savvy Baker
We teamed up with The Savvy Baker, a brilliant local independent business known for their sensational brownies, blondies and brookies (that’s a brownie-cookie hybrid – and yes, they really are as good as they sound!).
Founded by Savannah during lockdown, The Savvy Baker began as a way to spread joy through home-baked treats for friends and family. It quickly grew into something much bigger, and today, Savannah runs the business alongside her partner and an amazing team, with their own bakery and cafés.
Their journey really resonates with us at The Positive Teacher Company. Just like Savannah, our story began with one woman at home, turning a small idea into something truly special - without knowing where it might lead. That’s why this collaboration felt like such a perfect fit: sharing delicious bakes with hardworking school staff, while supporting a local independent business whose values and story we genuinely admire.
Our Staffroom Surprise Initiative
Here at The Positive Teacher Company, we’re a team made up mostly of teachers and we firmly believe that happy teachers mean happy children. For us, teacher wellbeing isn’t just important, it’s essential.
Earlier this year, we launched a new initiative called ‘Staffroom Surprise’, with one simple aim: to celebrate schools that truly care about staff wellbeing and foster a positive working environment.
So far, we’ve celebrated a handful of wonderful schools by:

Delivering pizzas ahead of parents' evening 🍕

Providing a pick-and-mix ice cream station 🍦

Organising an afternoon tea to celebrate a retiring headteacher ☕

And even surprising the one and only ICT with Mr P and his team with lots of Easter goodies! 🐣
Drive By Brownies
This summer, we wanted to do even more. We know that many school staff go into school during the holidays to set up classrooms or prepare for exam results day so we hit the road with our Drive-By Brownies tour!
Armed with delicious treats from The Savvy Baker, we toured schools across Leeds and Bradford, surprising staff and spreading a little joy. We focused on schools that had been nominated through our Staffroom Surprise initiative, along with other schools in the local area.
Some of the lovely schools we visited included:

- Birstall Primary
- Elliot Hudson College
- Carlton Bolling
...and many more!
We met some truly wonderful staff, saw some beautiful school settings and were made to feel so welcome everywhere we went. Everyone was so appreciative of their surprise brownies and and we’re sure a sweet treat made their day just that little bit brighter.
We genuinely had the best time. As former teachers ourselves, it was a joy to give back to those who give so much. We love making educators happy, so it’s safe to say our mission to spread positivity, one brownie at a time, was a success!
