I have a confession: the first time I saw washi tape, I had no idea what it was. All I knew was that it was pretty, it was stationery and I needed it. Over the past year it's fast become an almost essential piece of kit for me and I am delighted to be able to bring matching washi tape to this year's planner accessories. Here's my top seven uses for this underused, underrated but super handy accessory! You can find the washi tapes featured in this blog hereEnjoy!

1. Marking sections of your planner
I've marked out sections of my meeting pages so I can separate meetings at school and on training. Just measure out a long strip on washi tape and fold over the edge of the page.

2.  Page side indexing
Pulling off washi tape will not damage your planner pages. This means that if you need a temporary marker for a page, you can make one of these handy indexing flags and remove when it's not needed anymore. Just cut a length of washi, folder over the edge of a page (leaving around 1/2cm excess at the edge) and cut a small triangle at the end for that extra decoration.

3. Pattern matching planner dividers
On the back of each of my planner tabs I have stuck over washi tape so that it matches my planner design. Just stick a length of washi over the divider and cut around to make it fit perfectly.

4. Paperclip Flags
I have a whole bunch of these little washi tape paperclips, as they are so handy and simple to make. Cut a length of washi, feed through the edge of the paperclip and then fold on itself. Cut a little triangle out of the end for that flag effect. These are super handy as they can be moved around the planner or even used elsewhere if you like everything to match your planner!

5. Page Banners
Having these page banners on my calendar draws my eye straight to something exciting that's coming up in the month. Above, I've used Lavender washi, cut out small triangles and stuck across a pencil line. I've done a similar thing with the Pink Ribbon washi, but create flag bunting with space between each one. And then for and extra special banner, I've created a letter bunting banner, marked out with Polka Stripe washi at each end.

6. Mounting Planner Stickers
Here I've used a combination of long horizontal banners and small triangular cut outs to mount planner stickers. It makes the planner stickers stand out amongst my other calendar notes and is perfect for making my calendar pages match my planner design.

7. Planner Decoration
At the top of each calendar page I have stuck a strip of Lovebird washi tape, as well as using it to separate items on my to-do list. Now my generic TPTC planner pages match my planner design perfectly!
